What do we offer?
The Boys' Brigade UK offers free website hosting services to Districts, Battalions and Companies in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. This page provides information about using the facilities available through the BB server.
Web Space
You have 50MB of web space available on the server. The server is configured to allow the use of PHP and ASP, however, if we find that certain sites are using resources which adversely affect the performance of the server, we reserve the right to restrict or deny access to these facilities.
To upload files to your website you should use a server name of ftp.boys-brigade.org.uk and then enter the username and password that you have been supplied with. This will give you direct access to your webspace.
Databases
You can have one database on the server; this will be a MySQL database.
To request a database please login and use the support facility.
To administer your MySQL database we suggest that you download the support tools available from http://www.mysql.com
To access mail services you should use a server of mail.boys-brigade.org.uk for the SMTP server and mail.boys-brigade.org.uk for the POP3 server. You MUST also make sure that the option "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" is NOT set. If this is set you will not be able to send mail through the BB server.
All mail that is sent or received by the BB server is scanned for viruses and filtered for spam content. If you receive an email with [Spam] in the subject line then the server has identified this email as likely to contain spam. You can set up a rule in your mail client to automatically move these messages into a separate folder if you wish.
If you have a POP3 account, you can also access your email via webmail by going to http://mail.boys-brigade.org.uk
