Payroll Giving

How you can increase your donation at no extra cost?

Did you know that if you donated £10 a month to The Boys' Brigade from your pay, your gift will only cost you £8.00? The taxman gives us the extra £2.00!

Providing your employer is signed up to the payroll giving scheme, it offers you a highly convenient, tax-efficient way to support our work with children and young people. If your employer isn't yet involved, why not suggest it to them?

To find out more information please speak to your employer's Human Resources or Personnel department. Alternatively you can find more information on the Inland Revenue website at www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/payrollgiving

What is Payroll Giving ?

Payroll Giving is a simple, tax effective way to give to The Boys' Brigade from your pay. Surveys show that each month two thirds of us give to charity.

How does Payroll Giving work ?

Providing your employer offers Payroll Giving it could not be simpler. You authorise your employer to deduct regular charitable donations from your pay. Your employer then pays these donations to a Payroll Giving agency approved by the Inland Revenue. The agency then distributes the money to the charity or charities of your choice.

How can l find out if my employer offers Payroll Giving ?

Ask your employer's payroll department. If they do not currently offer a scheme, suggest they start one as it is easy and inexpensive to run.

How do l know if l am eligible to join the scheme ?

You will be eligible provided that you are an employer or pensioner and that your employer deducts Pay As You Earn tax from your pay or pension.

How much should l give ?

This is a very personal decision. There are no limits on how much you can give. You should work out how much you can afford to give every week or month, contributing what you can.
